Membership in the Club entails certain responsibilities. Members must be willing and able to make a significant contribution to the Metropolitan Opera and to the Club. There are four classes of membership: Subscribing, Associate, Junior, and Non Resident Associate.
Subscribing Members
Subscribing members are the only voting members of the Club, have full use of the Club's facilities, and may use the Club boxes at all performances to which the Club has subscribed. Subscribing Members may propose candidates for any class of Membership in the Club.
Associate Members
The Associate members have full use of the Club Room. They may not sit in the Club Boxes by themselves, or with guests, but may sit in the Club boxes upon invitation by a Subscribing member. Associate Members may propose candidates for Associate, Junior and Non Resident Associate membership
Junior Members
Junior members must be under 37 years of age at the time of their election. Junior Members have full use of the Club Room. Junior members may propose candidates for Junior membership
Non Resident Associate
Non Resident Associate members may not sit in the Club Boxes and are allowed limited use of the Club Room, no more then five times per season. Such members may not have a place of abode within 350 miles of New York City.
All members are invited to attend Club Dinners and Benefit performances. The number of members of the Club is limited by the seating capacity of the Club Boxes and by the size of the Club Room. Members may obtain information regarding the membership procedures from the Club Manager or the Chairman of the Membership Committee.
